The tank is the part of a vape that decides how it tastes. Everything else — the mod, the battery, the wattage — only feeds it. Swap a tank and the same e-liquid on the same device can taste completely different, which is why experienced vapers own several.

Three kinds matter here. Sub-ohm tanks run low resistance and wide airflow for a warm, airy lung inhale and heavy vapour — pair them with 3mg or 6mg freebase liquid, because salt nicotine at these outputs is far too harsh. MTL tanks run a tight, restricted draw closer to a cigarette, which is what most people switching from smoking want, and they work with higher strengths. RTAs take a coil you build and wick yourself: more work, lower running cost, and the most control over flavour.
